A Story of Inspiration

A dear friend posted her testimony this morning on Facebook and I just had to share.  I pray it is a blessing to anyone who reads it:

“Today I completed my residency. I am officially a full fledge OB/GYN with a full license. In December of 2004 I was a pharmaceutical rep bringing samples and lunches to doctors’ offices in DC. I was miserable. The woman leading my bible study asked me, “What would you do if you were not afraid?” I quickly said, ” become doctor, but I’m too old, and it takes too long, and I don’t want to go into debt etc …” I had many excuses. Two months later I quit my job, sold my house and moved into my parents house in pursuit of my dream of becoming a physician. Twelve years later I can say with confidence “If you want to LIVE you must CHOOSE to die. For sure, the only way to resurrection is by way of the cross.” Christ said “unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies it remains only a single seed. But if it dies it produces many seeds (John 12:24). I have died many deaths over the last decade. I have wanted to give up so many times. I came to understand why the person from the parable of the talents chose to bury his talent while other chose to grow others- because it is so painfully difficult. Dying to self and pleasure and comfort day after day is extremely difficult. But now on the mountain top I can glimpse a future I only dreamed of in the valley. Sunday I leave for Boston to start a fellowship in laparoscopic and robotic surgery. There are no words to describe the immense pleasure I feel while operating. I had no idea when I started out on this journey that I would have a job I love as much as I love minimally invasive gynecological surgery. I thank God for this gift and opportunity. I give thanks for the plans He has had for me since my birth. Plans to prosper me and not to harm me. To give me an incredible hope and an amazing future.”
